Established in 2012 Dark Horse Ranch is an 18 acre farm in Harvard IL. We raise heritage breed chickens and Friesian horses and discovered the critically endangered Dales Pony in 2018. We added 2 black mares to the farm, and have since added 3 blue roan ponies to round out the herd. In 2025 we established the Dark Horse Ranch Foundation, a 501c3 organization focused on conserving and protecting the critically endangered Dales Pony and fostering public awareness through demonstrations, exhibitions, and shows.

Visit the Dales Ponies of Dark Horse Ranch Foundation at the Midwest Horse Fair at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison WI. Our booth is in Pavilion 2 in the Threatened, Critical, and Rare Breed Area. We perform a Rare Breed Demonstration on Friday and Sunday, and have a pony in the Grand March on Friday and Saturday.
